Azerbaijan arrests 22 Iran-hired terrorists

On Wednesday 14^th of March, The Azerbaijan security ministry announced that the Security services had arrested 22 people they said were hired by Iran to carry out terrorist attacks against the U.S. and Israeli embassies in Baku, the capital.

The National Security Ministry declared that the 22 people were Azerbaijan citizens, trained in Iran by Iran's Revolutionary Guard, in order to act as spies and to attack these embassies. They were also preparing to attack the offices of a Jewish organization, the local headquarters of international oil giant BP and an American restaurant.

During the arrest, weapons were found, including automatic assault rifles, grenades, ammunition and explosives. But the Iranian government denied any links to all kinds of attack outside the country and accused Azerbaijan of helping Israel to commit crimes against Iranian scientists. The authorities in Baku declared that they won’t allow any Iranian action on their territory.

In February, authorities in Thailand arrested a terrorist group linked to the Iranian government preparing a bomb attack on Israeli diplomats. Then a few weeks later, the wife of an Israeli diplomat was bombed in New-Delhi and the Iranian regime was accused of this terrorist plot.

My opinion: It’s not the first time that Iran is accused of plotting against Israel or the U.S. I think that its government is acting in a really dangerous way, and the consequences can be extremely grave, for instance it can be a cause of a declaration of war between Iran and Israel soon. So, international diplomats have to react as quickly as possible.

L’Azerbaïdjan arrête 22 terroristes liés à l’Iran

Ce mercredi 14 Mars, le ministère de l’intérieur Azerbaïdjanais a déclaré que les forces de sécurité du pays avaient arrêté 22 individus, accusés d’être à la solde de l’Iran dans le but de mener des attaques terroristes contre les ambassades israélienne et américaine à Bakou, la capitale.

Le Ministère de l’Intérieur a ensuite indiqué que les 22 individus étaient des Azerbaïdjanais entraînés par la Garde Révolutionnaire Iranienne dans le but de devenir espions et d’attaquer des ambassades. Ils préparaient aussi des attentats contre une organisation juive, les bureaux du géant du pétrole BP et un restaurant américain de la capitale.

Au cours de l’arrestation, d’importantes quantités d’armes, de munitions et d’explosifs ont été saisies. L’Iran a formellement nié toute implication dans ces agissements mais a accusé l’Azerbaïdjan d’aider Israël à exécuter ses scientifiques nucléaires. Quant à elles, les autorités du pays concerné ont affirmé qu’elles ne tolèreraient aucune action iranienne sur leur territoire.

En février, le gouvernement thaïlandais a arrêté un groupuscule terroriste, lié au gouvernement de Téhéran, qui prévoyait une attaque contre des diplomates israéliens. Alors qu’au cours des semaines suivantes, la femme d’un diplomate de ce pays a été victime d’un attentat à New-Delhi qui aurait été perpétré par les services secrets du gouvernement Ahmadinejad.

Mon opinion : Ce n’est pas la première fois que le régime iranien est mouillé dans ce type d’histoire de complot contre Israël et les Etats-Unis, ce pays joue à un jeu très dangereux qui pourrait avoir des conséquences désastreuses, comme une déclaration de guerre par exemple. La communauté internationale a donc tout intérêt à faire intervenir la diplomatie rapidement pour calmer les tensions

Iranian nuclear scientist assassinated

On Wednesday January 15, nuclear scientist Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan and his bodyguard were killed as they drove to work by a motorcyclist who came alongside and clamped a magnetic bomb to their car. The 32-year old scientist knew that he was a target for assassination - he was seriously protected - but this murder sent shock waves across the country.

Rowshan was indeed involved in Iran's nuclear program. He was the third Iranian scientist to be killed in the past two years. The Iranian regime has blamed the United States and Israel for this “heinous act”. But the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton categorically denied “any United States involvement in any kind of act of violence inside Iran”.

This murder has sparked outrage in Iran and the State TV showed demonstrations to protest against Rowshan’s killing.

Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of Iran, declared "We shall persist in punishing the perpetrators of this crime, as well those supporting them behind the scenes". Then he accused the CIA and the Mossad services to be responsible of this attack.

Opinion: the US government might have organized this killing to hinder Iran's progress towards strategic technology. But this is a really dangerous method, because the Iranian answer to this assassination could be quick and more violent.

Mercredi 15 janvier, le scientifique iranien Mostafa Ahmadi Roshan et son garde du corps ont été tués dans une attaque à la bombe. Un motard aurait fixé une bombe magnétique à l’arrière de leur véhicule alors que ce dernier se rendait sur son lieu de travail. Le jeune père de famille âgé de 32 ans savait qu’il était menacé – d’où sa protection rapprochée – mais une onde de choc a été ressentie dans tout le pays.

Rowshan était bien évidemment impliqué dans la politique nucléaire iranienne. En deux ans, c’est le troisième scientifique assassiné. Le régime a accusé les Etats-Unis et Israël de cet acte « haineux ». Cependant la Secrétaire d’Etat américaine, Hillary Clinton, a catégoriquement nié « quelque implication des Etats-Unis dans tout acte de violence sur le territoire Iranien ».

Cet assassinat a provoqué l’indignation de la population iranienne et la télévision d’Etat a montré des images de protestations contre cet acte.

Ali Khamenei, Guide suprême de la République Islamique, a déclaré « Nous devons trouver et punir les auteurs de ce meurtre, tout autant que ceux qui l’ont orchestré ». Avant de poursuivre en accusant la CIA et le Mossad d’être les responsables de cette attaque contre l’Iran.
