Israel condemned by Iran
Iran has condemned the Israeli air attack on Gaza and called on other nations to do the same.
Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei condemned Israel and also called on the Palestinians to fight against the Jewish state, he declared on the Iranian TV: "Zionists understand nothing but the language of force, so the Palestinians must increase their power and resistance to force the criminals to surrender and stop their brutal acts”.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who visited Syria last Friday to hold talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and senior officials on the flare-up of violence between Israelis and Palestinians, maintained his position, according to the Syrian state news agency (SANA).
Since 6 May, tension between Israel and Palestine has been rising. The situation arose after clashes in east Jerusalem, especially around Al-Aqsa mosque, whereas Israeli authorities prepared to clear Palestinian families to make way for Jewish settlers. Rupert Colville, spokesperson for the UN high commissioner for human rights, said this “leads to a risk of forcible transfer and “may amount to war crimes.” On the Palestinian side, the death toll from this crisis has risen to 103, including 27 children, and 580 injured since 6 May, according to the Palestinian enclave's Ministry of Health. On the Israeli side, gunfire from Gaza has left seven dead and dozens injured.
On the other hand, over the years, Iran has provided material to support Hamas and Islamic Jihad in Gaza. Ties between Iran and Hamas improved in 2020, with Khamenei pledging strong support. For the first time, in May 2020 Khamenei spoke openly of providing weapons to Palestinian groups.
“Iran realized Palestinian fighters' only problem was a lack of access to weapons,” he said. “With divine guidance and assistance, and today the Gaza Strip can stand against the aggression of the Zionist enemy and defeat it.”
Referring to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in a tweet on Wednesday, a member of Iran's parliament Ahmad Naderi said the "clock will tick faster for Israel's annihilation," adding: "This is the blessing [brought on] by the blood of our Haj Qasem [Qasem Soleimani, the Iranian general killed by the United States in 2020 who commanded Iran’s extraterritorial Qods Force]."

Le guide suprême Ali Khamenei a condamné Israël et appelé les Palestiniens à combattre l’Etat hébreux. Il a déclaré à la TV iranienne : « Les sionistes ne comprennent que le langage de la force, les Palestiniens doivent donc accroître leur puissance et leur résistance pour forcer les criminels à se rendre et à cesser leurs actes brutaux. » Par ailleurs, le ministre iranien des affaires étrangères Mohammad Javad Zarif qui s’est rendu en Syrie vendredi dernier afin de s'entretenir avec le président syrien Bachar al-Assad et de hauts responsables sur la flambée de violence entre Israéliens et Palestiniens, a soutenu la même position, selon l'agence de presse nationale syrienne (SANA). Depuis le 6 mai, la tension entre Israël et la Palestine n'a cessé d’augmenter.
La crise a commencé suite à des affrontements qui ont eu lieu à Jérusalem-Est près de la mosquée Al-Aqsa, alors que les autorités israéliennes s'apprêtaient à expulser des familles palestiniennes pour que des colons juifs s’y installent. Rupert Colville, porte-parole du haut-commissaire de l'ONU aux droits de l'homme estime que cet incident « entraîne un risque de transfert forcé » et « peut s'apparenter à des crimes de guerre. »
Côté palestinien, le bilan de cette crise s’élève à 103 morts, dont 27 enfants, et 580 blessés depuis le 6 mai selon le ministère de la Santé de l’enclave palestinienne. Côté Israélien, les tirs depuis Gaza ont fait sept morts et des dizaines de blessés.
D’autre part, l’Iran a, au fil des années, apporté un soutien matériel au Hamas et au Jihad islamique à Gaza. Les liens entre l'Iran et le Hamas se sont améliorés en 2020, Khamenei promettant un soutien fort. Pour la première fois, en mai 2020, Khamenei a parlé ouvertement de fournir des armes aux groupes palestiniens.
« L'Iran a réalisé que le seul problème des combattants palestiniens était le manque d'accès aux armes, » a-t-il déclaré. « Aujourd'hui la Bande de Gaza peut s'opposer à l'agression de l'ennemi sioniste et le vaincre. »
Faisant référence au conflit israélo-palestinien dans un tweet mercredi, un membre du parlement iranien, Ahmad Naderi, a déclaré que « l'horloge s'accélérera pour l'anéantissement d'Israël ", ajoutant : « C'est la bénédiction [apportée] par le sang de notre Haj Qasem » [Qasem Soleimani, le général iranien tué par les États-Unis en 2020 qui commandait la force Qods extraterritoriale de l'Iran].
