Iran has suspended its nuclear program


This news has been announced by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). They don’t know exactly why the enrichment of uranium was stopped.
Some western diplomats declared that technical problems could be the cause of this stoppage.

However, the IAEA is still concerned that Iran could use its nuclear potential for military purposes. According to some experts, despite this decision, Iran still has enough of uranium to make two nuclear bombs with about 3.8 T of uranium. But the Iranian government has repeated that its nuclear program is just destined to produce electricity.

For the West, Tehran is again daring the UN. The United States is exasperated and declared that Iran isn’t respecting its international obligations.

Iran could have stopped its enrichment of uranium because of outdated centrifuges. But, according to some experts of security, this problem is supposed to have been caused by Stuxnet, a computer virus, probably created by a hostile country like Israel.
Ali Akbar Saheli, who is in charge of the Iranian nuclear program, declared that Iran’s enemies had failed in their project.

Stopping the enrichment could help the “Six” (USA, China Russia, France, Great-Britain, and Germany) to resume the talks with Iran which have been suspended since the beginning of November. Saheli said that Iran accepted to talk with a representant of one of the “Six”. After the discussions, Iran will reveal some information about its nuclear program. These “negotiations” will probably take place at the beginning of December.

L’Iran a temporairement arrêté son programme nucléaire

Cette information nous parvient de l’Agence Internationale de l’Energie Atomique (AIEA). On ne sait pas exactement pourquoi l’enrichissement en uranium a cessé.
Certains diplomates occidentaux ont déclaré que des problèmes techniques en étaient à l’origine.

Toutefois, l’AIEA reste préoccupée par le fait que l’Iran puisse utiliser son potentiel nucléaire à des fins militaires. Selon certains experts, malgré cette décision, l’Iran possède 3.8 tonnes d’uranium, bien assez pour fabriquer deux bombes nucléaires.

Pour les Occidentaux, Téhéran est encore une fois en train de défier les Nations Unies. Les Etats-Unis sont exaspérés par cette attitude, et ont déclaré que l’Iran manquait à nouveau à ses obligations internationales.

L’Iran aurait donc freiné son enrichissement en uranium à cause de ses centrifugeuses relativement anciennes, et probablement défectueuses. Cependant, selon des experts en matière de sécurité, ce problème pourrait résulter d’une attaque du virus informatique. Stuxnet, qui aurait été conçue par un pays hostile à l’Iran. Les soupçons se portent alors vers Israël.
Ali Akbar Saheli qui est chargé du programme nucléaire iranien a annoncé que le virus avait échoué ainsi que le pays étranger en cause.

Par conséquent, cet arrêt d’enrichissement va permettre aux « Six » (USA, Chine, Russie, France, Grande-Bretagne, Allemagne) de rétablir le contact avec Téhéran, ce qui ne s’était pas produit depuis début novembre.
Saheli a également déclaré que son gouvernement serait prêt à recevoir un représentant des Six. Après cette rencontre, l’Iran pourrait dévoiler des informations sur son programme nucléaire. Ces pourparlers devraient avoir lieu dès le début du mois de décembre.
