Last week, Iran sentenced the 60-years old French-Iranian
academic Fariba Adelkah, to six years in prison.
According to her lawyer Saeid Dehghan "The branch 15 of Tehran's Revolutionary Court has sentenced her to five years of jail for gathering and conspiring against Iran's national security. She was also sentenced to a one-year jail term for propaganda against the Islamic Republic". He added that he would appeal against a verdict.
Earlier, Iran has dropped unsuccessful spying charges against Mrs. Adelkhah, but she stayed in prison on other accusations, especially for jeopardizing the security of the country.
After this declaration, France condemned the sentence and demanded her immediate liberation because "This sentencing is not based on any serious element or fact and is thus a political decision" said the French foreign ministry. And he continued with "We are urging Iranian authorities to immediately release Mrs Adelkhah."
Iran has already rejected France's request in June 2019, to release the woman anthropologist.
In March, Iran had released the French academic Roland Marchal, the husband of Mrs Adelkhah who had been arrested at the same time as his wife.
This release was made possible as France has freed Iranian engineer Jalal Ruhollahnejad who was in prison for violating US sanctions against Tehran.
In May 2019, France has approved the extradition of an Iranian engineer in the US to face charges of attempting to illegally import US technology for military purposes for an Iranian company the US this suspected of working for the Iran's elite Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

La semaine dernière, l'Iran a condamné l'universitaire
franco-iranienne Fariba Adelkah, âgée de 60 ans, à six ans de prison.
Selon son avocat Saeid Dehghan, "la 15è chambre du
tribunal révolutionnaire de Téhéran l'a condamnée à cinq ans de prison pour avoir
conspiré contre la sécurité nationale de l'Iran. Elle a également été condamnée
à un an de prison pour propagande contre la République islamique". Il a
ajouté qu'il ferait appel du verdict.
Avant cela, l'Iran avait abandonné les charges d'espionnage
contre Mme Adelkhah mais elle a été maintenue en prison pour une autre
accusation, notamment sur la sécurité de l'Iran.
Après cette déclaration, la France a condamné la sentence et
souhaite sa libération immédiate car "cette condamnation ne repose sur
aucun élément ou fait grave et constitue donc une décision politique", a
déclaré le ministère français des affaires étrangères. Et de poursuivre :
"Nous demandons instamment aux autorités iraniennes de libérer
immédiatement Mme Adelkhah".
L'Iran avait déjà rejeté en juin 2019 la demande de
libération de l'anthropologue faite par la France.
En mars, l'Iran a libéré l'universitaire français Roland
Marchal arrêté en même temps que sa femme, Mme Adelkhah.
Cette libération faisait suite à celle de l'ingénieur iranien Jalal Ruhollahnejad
par la France. Cet homme était en prison après avoir violé les sanctions
américaines contre Téhéran.
En mai 2019, la France avait l'extradition de l'ingénieur
iranien aux États-Unis pour qu'il soit accusé de tentative d'importation illégale
de technologie américaine à des fins militaires pour une société iranienne.
Selon les États-Unis, cette société travaille pour le corps d'élit des Gardiens
de la Révolution.
