US allegedly dropped a nuclear bomb on the Iraq-Iran border in 1991
Chairman of the State Expediency Council Akbar-Hashemi Rafsandjani, urged an inquiry into a report that the US dropped a small nuclear bomb on an area near the Iraq-Iran border.
The former president and current Chairman of the Assembly of Experts addressed the weekly Friday congregation. He said that “the bomb blast killed many people and spread cancer and other diseases in the area, but no news was published about it”.
But Rafsandjani noted that some footage of the attack, which allegedly took place between Basra in Iraq and Iran’s border in 1991, was broadcast by an Italian television channel earlier this month.
This affair was widespread by media coverage but was censored in the media. At the Tehran University premises, Press TV quoted: “If the report turns out to be true, the US should be asked why it resorted to such a crime”.
On October 10, lieutenant colonel Patrick Ryder, a media spokesman for the Us Department of Defence, told that the Us used only “conventional weapons” during the Persian Gulf war (2 August 1990-28 February 1991).
The nuclear bombing Rafsandjani is referring to is based on a claim by US war veteran Jim Brown who said that the US dropped a five kiloton nuclear bomb on 27 February 1991 - the last day of the war.
RaiNews24 said he has conducted an independent inquiry and discovered that “a seismic event (5 kiloton) took place on that day”.
A documentary including an interview with an Iraqi doctor showed that before this war, there were 32 cases of tumours whereas in 2002, there were 600 cases.

Les Etats-Unis auraient lâché une bombe nucléaire sur la frontière entre l’Irak et l’Iran en 1991
Le président du Conseil du Discernement, Akbar Hashemi Rafsandjani, a demandé qu’une enquête soit menée sur des allégations faisant état du largage d’une petite bombe nucléaire par les Etats-Unis sur une zone proche de la frontière irako-iranienne en 1991.
Dans son sermon du vendredi, l’ancien président iranien et actuel président de l’Assemblée des Experts a déclaré que le souffle de la bombe avait tué de nombreuses personnes et avait provoqué des cancers et d’autres maladies dans la région, mais qu’aucune nouvelle n’en avait été publiée.
Mais Rafsandjani a remarqué que des images de l’attaque, qui a eu lieu entre Bassora en Irak et la frontière de l’Iran, ont été diffusées par une chaîne de télévision italienne au début du mois.
Cette affaire qui aurait dû recevoir une large couverture médiatique aurait été censurée. D’après PressTV, il aurait déclaré à l’Université de Téhéran: « Si le rapport s’avère être vrai, on devrait demander des comptes aux Etats-Unis pour avoir commis un tel crime. »
Le 10 Octobre, le lieutenant colonel Patrick Rider, porte parole du Ministère de la défense national des Etats-Unis, a affirmé que les Etats-Unis n’avaient utilisé que des armes conventionnelles pendant la Guerre du Golfe Persique (2 août 1990-28 février 1991).
Rafsandjani s’est appuyé sur les déclarations d’un ancien combattant américain Jim Brown qui avait affirmé que les Etats-Unis avaient largué une bombe nucléaire de 5 kilotonnes le 27 février 1991, dernier jour de la guerre.
RaiNews 24 a déclaré que Brown avait conduit une enquête indépendante et découvert qu’un «évènement sismique avait eu lieu ce jour-là ».
Un documentaire comprenant une interview d’un docteur irakien a montré qu’avant cette guerre, on dénombrait 32 cas de tumeurs cancéreuses contre 600 en 2002.
