US air spy downed in Iran

Iran captured a US surveillance drone intercepted in the Iranian air space. According to Tehran, The RQ-170 sentinel came from the Afghan border. Apparently, The Pentagon was using it to spy on Iran and its nuclear program. It was brought down and captured by an electronic warfare unit without being damaged. A member of the Iranian parliament’s national security committee, Parviz Sorouri said the information extracted by military experts from the drone would be used to “file a lawsuit against the United States over the invasion”. Reported by the Iranian Student’s News Agency and according to the Iranian Defense Minister Ahmad Vahidi: “The American espionage drone is now Iran's property, and our country will decide what steps to take regarding it,”

US president called on Iran to restitute the drone, but Iran is sticking to its guns. Vahidi also said: “Instead of apologizing to the Iranian nation, [the US] is brazenly asking for the drone back,” reported this time by another news agency, Mehr. The US Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton said the drone will not be returned that easily, US would have to pursue a “diplomatic approach”.

On top of all this, Iranian authorities claimed to have arrested CIA spies last May. Meanwhile, two Iranian military officials are under sanction process by the US for alleged human rights abuses.

Un drone américain RQ-170 capturé en Iran

Après avoir découvert un drone de surveillance appartenant aux Etats-Unis volant dans son espace aérien, l’Iran a capturé le RQ-170 en provenance de la frontière afghane. Le Pentagone l’aurait utilisé pour collecter des informations sur le programme nucléaire iranien. Le drone a été capturé par une unité de guerre électronique sans être endommagé.

Des spécialistes militaires sont en train de décrypter les données recueillies par le drone afin d’entamer une procédure judiciaire contre les Etats-Unis, annonce Parviz Sorouri, un membre du comité de la sécurité nationale. Ahmad Vahidi, le ministre de la défense a déclaré que le drone est maintenant sous le contrôle et la responsabilité de l’Iran. Les Etats-Unis ont tenté de le récupérer, mais sans succès. Selon Vahidi, ils ne se seraient pas excusés de l’intrusion. D’après Hillary Clinton, les Etats-Unis doivent tenter une approche diplomatique pour espérer récupérer leur drone, ce qui ne sera pas facile.

D’après l’Iran, les Etats-Unis auraient aussi arrêté des espions de la CIA sans donner d’information sur leurs identités. Deux hauts gradés iraniens sont de leur côté accusés d’infraction aux droits de l’homme et font l’objet de sanctions américaines.
