Historic contract for Airbus in Iran

The first of 100 Airbus planes Iran bought since its nuclear agreement has arrived Thursday after a flight from Toulouse, France where the headquarters of the European consortium are located.
These 189-seat airplanes have cost Iran’s airline $18 billion.

At the ceremony for the arrival of the A321 jet Thursday, Abbas Akhoundi, the transport minister said that Iran Air would receive nine Airbus 321 and 330 planes next Iranian year. He added that Iran will also receive two Airbus A330 jets till March 20, 2017, the end of this Iranian year.

Iran’s airline company will soon order 20 turboprops from a European company ATR that works with Airbus and an Italian company, Finmeccanica.

The renewal of Iran’s planes has already started and according to contracts with world major plane makers, Iran will receive 200 new planes, 100 from Airbus and 80 from Boeing.  The agreement with Boeing is Iran’s biggest deal with an American company since 1979. Iran ordered 50 Boeing 737s and 30 Boeing 777s for the next decade.

Iran hopes to upgrade their planes quickly now that the nuclear sanctions have been lifted.
But the election of Donald Trump can endanger the 2015 nuclear agreement. He criticized more than once this deal during his presidential campaign and didn’t say what he was going to do about it.

Contrat historique pour Airbus en Iran

Le premier Airbus sur une commande de 100 appareils achetés par l'Iran, depuis son accord nucléaire, est arrivé jeudi après un vol en provenance de Toulouse, France, où le siège social du consortium européen est localisé. Cette commande de 100 avions de 189 places a couté 18 milliards de dollars à la compagnie aérienne Iran Air.
À la cérémonie consacrée à l'arrivée du jet A321 jeudi, Abbas Akhoundi, le ministre des transports a dit que l'Iran recevrait neuf Airbus 321 et 330 avions durant la prochaine année iranienne. Il a ajouté que l'Iran recevra également deux Airbus A330 avant le  20 mars 2017,  dernier jour de cette année iranienne. La compagnie aérienne iranienne  commandera bientôt 20 turbopropulseurs à l’entreprise européenne ATR, une coentreprise entre Airbus et l’italien Finmeccanica. La rénovation des avions Iraniens a déjà commencé et l'Iran recevra 200 nouveaux avions, 100 d’Airbus et 80 de Boeing. L'accord avec Boeing est le plus important contrat signé avec une entreprise américaine depuis 1979. L'Iran a commandé 50 Boeing 737s et 30 Boeing 777s pour la prochaine décennie.

L'Iran espère améliorer leurs avions au plus vite maintenant que les sanctions nucléaires ont été levées. Mais l'élection de Donald Trump peut mettre en danger l’accord nucléaire passé en 2015. Il a critiqué plus d'une fois cet accord pendant sa campagne présidentielle et n'a pas dit ce qu'il comptait faire à ce sujet.
