Iranians greet Obama
In Iran, everybody was deeply interested in the American elections. The Iranian media often mentioned the subject and constantly speculated on the winner. Even if the main leaders of the country maintain their resentful criticism of the United States, the population hoped that Barack Obama would win the election as with him the relations between the two countries could get better. ”I think that the candidate which will restore the relations with Iran will be the best candidate for us because with him, the sanctions which has been imposed against our country could be removed, and we, as the international community could benefit from it” an inhabitant of Teheran said. The result of this election was therefore greeted by the Iranians.

Obama, favori des Iraniens
En Iran, tout le monde portait un grand intérêt aux élections américaines. Les médias iraniens évoquaient souvent le sujet et spéculaient constamment sur le nom du vainqueur. Même si les principaux leaders du pays poursuivent leurs critiques haineuses envers les Etats-Unis, la population, elle, espérait que Barack Obama gagnerait les élections car avec lui les relations entre les deux pays pourraient s’améliorer. Un habitant de Téhéran déclarait : « Je pense que le candidat qui restaurera les relations avec l’Iran sera le meilleur candidat pour nous car avec lui, les sanctions qui ont été imposés contre notre pays pourraient être levées, et nous, comme la communauté internationale pourront en bénéficier.» Le résultat de ces élections est donc bien celui souhaité par les Iraniens.
