Two Germans expelled from Iran

The weekly Der Spiegel announced that two German policemen working as German diplomats in Tehran had been expelled from Iran. They were questioned by their Iranian counterparts as one of them had exchanged emails with an Iranian woman suspected to be involved in the opposition.
The report said they had been arrested for taking part in deadly anti-government demonstration on December 27, while the relations between Berlin and Tehran were getting tenser.
German foreign ministry spokesman Andreas Peschke denied in a Berlin news conference that German diplomats had been arrested on December 27, and affirmed that if the charges were to be confirmed, they would be categorically rejected.
Iranian officials claimed that the German diplomats were at the head of a network composed of young Iranians collecting information on events in the country. They added that this network was connected to the German intelligence service and was involved in the latest riots.
As a consequence of the growing tensions between the two countries, German industrial giant Siemens announced they would stop doing business with Iran within a few months.
German Chancellor Angela Merkel warned that February would be the “crucial month” for the UN Security Council to consider sanctions against Iran, and even talked with Israel’s President Shimon Peres to give more weight to the sanctions.


My opinion: The only way Iran found to stop anti-government protests is to arrest any people showing their opposition to the Islamic republic. I think that most of the time, the charges are not justified and that innocent people are arrested, expelled or even killed after a mock trial.

Deux Allemands expulsés d’Iran

L’hebdomadaire Der Spiegel a annoncé l’expulsion d’Iran de deux policiers allemands qui travaillaient à l’ambassade allemande à Téhéran. Ils ont été questionnés par leurs homologues iraniens qui avaient découvert que l’un d’eux aurait échangé des mails avec une femme iranienne soupçonnée de faire partie de l’opposition.
Le reportage indique que les deux policiers, que les autorités iraniennes qualifient de diplomates, ont été arrêtés pour leur participation aux manifestations anti-gouvernementales du 27 décembre dernier, alors que les relations entre Berlin et Téhéran devenaient de plus en plus tendues.
Le porte-parole allemand du ministère des Affaires étrangères, Andreas Peschke, a nié lors d’une conférence de presse à Berlin que des diplomates aient été arrêtés le 27 décembre et a ajouté que si les accusations étaient confirmées, elles seraient rejetées catégoriquement.
Les autorités iraniennes ont prétendu que les « diplomates » allemands dirigeaient un réseau constitué de jeunes iraniens, dont le but était de collecter des informations sur les manifestations dans le pays, que ce réseau était lié aux services de renseignements allemands et qu’il était impliqué dans les dernières émeutes.
Suite à ces tensions grandissantes entre les deux pays, Siemens, le géant industriel allemand, a annoncé qu’il cesserait ses activités commerciales à compter du milieu de l’année.
La Chancelière allemande Angela Merkel a lancé un avertissement mentionnant que février serait le mois décisif durant lequel le Conseil de Sécurité des Nations Unies envisageait de prendre des sanctions contre l’Iran. Elle s’est même entretenue avec le président israélien Shimon Peres qui a soutenu son point de vue.


Mon opinion : Le seul moyen qu’ait trouvé l’Iran pour décourager les manifestations anti-gouvernementales est d’arrêter n’importe quelle personne montrant son opposition à la République Islamique. Je pense que les accusations sont bien souvent injustifiées et que des innocents sont arrêtés, expulsés, ou même exécutés après une parodie de procès.
