Beware of party spoilers

On Tuesday the 31st anniversary of the revolution will be commemorated in Iran, and demonstrations are expected from the opposition to President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
The most important gatherings will be held in Tehran where the president will deliver a speech. His opponents consider that they have to be there too, so they have invited themselves at the celebration.
The Iranian police maintain that everything is over control and that they will be ready to attend to every event that will happen.
Some opponents have already been arrested for planning to disturb the gathering and it’s not the first time, recent days have seen a large number of arrests, including important leaders of the opposition like Behzad Nabavi who has been judged and condemned to five years of imprisonment while another unknown man was given a death sentence.

My opinion: we have to expect a great number of incidents and the Iranian police has to be prepared otherwise the consequences could be very serious in terms of economic destructions or even in terms of casualties.

Un Anniversaire pas si joyeux

Ce jeudi 11 sera célébré le 31ème anniversaire de la révolution iranienne et il faut s’attendre à une réaction de l’opposition au président Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
Le rassemblement le plus important se tiendra à Téhéran où le président fera un discours. Ses opposants se sont invités à la fête. La police assure que tout est sous contrôle et qu’elle est prête à intervenir dans n’importe quel cas.
Il y a déjà eu quelques arrestations aujourd’hui d’opposants accusés d’avoir projeté de troubler les festivités. Ce n’est pas la première fois, ces derniers temps un grand nombre d’arrestations ont eu lieu, y compris celles des plus importants des chefs de l’opposition comme Behzad Nabavi. Ce dernier a été jugé et condamné à 5 ans de prison et un autre homme non identifié a été condamné à mort.

Mon opinion : il faut s’attendre à voir un grand nombre d’incidents et la police Iranienne a intérêt à être aussi prête à l’action qu’elle le dit parce que si elle ne l’est pas les conséquences pourraient être très graves, économiquement parlant mais aussi au niveau des vies humaines.
