Bomb attack on the Shia mosque of Chabahar


On Wednesday, a suicide attempt was carried out against the Shia mosque of Chabahar, Iran. About 39 people, including women and children, died in this attack. One hundred persons have been injured too. According to the TV channel “Al Arabia”, the Sunni militant group Jundallah claimed the attempt. Two of the three terrorist kamikazes were killed and the last one arrested.

This mosque stands in a mainly Sunni region that complains of discrimination from the Shia authorities.
Jundallah, “the soldiers of God”, claims to defend the Sunni people in Iran. The organisation is reported to enjoy training facilities in Pakistan.
Last month, Jundallah claimed two attempts which killed 27 people and in October 2009 the terrorist group claimed an attack in Pishin, a town located near the Pakistani border. There were 42 people killed.

For Tehran, these terrorists have been formed in Pakistan. In addition, the Iranian government thinks Jundallah has a link with Al-Qaeda, manipulated by the USA and Great-Britain. Naturally, these countries have denied those accusations. For Washington, this accusation is “a contemptible insult”. The American president, Barack Obama, declared that authors should be accountable.

Then, Iran is again victim of the old war which opposes Shias and Sunnis.

Attaque à la bombe contre la mosquée chiite de Chabahar


Mercredi, un attentat-suicide a été perpétré contre la mosquée chiite de Chabahar. Environ 39 personnes ont été tuées dont des femmes et des enfants. On dénombre également une centaine de blessés. Selon la chaîne d’état iranienne Al-Arabia, c’est Jundallah, un groupe armé sunnite qui a revendiqué cet attentat. Deux des trois kamikazes ont été tués, le troisième a quant à lui été arrêté.

Cette mosquée est située dans une zone de population majoritairement sunnite, qui se plaint de discriminations répétées de la part des autorités iraniennes.
Jundallah, «les soldats de Dieu», affirme défendre la minorité sunnite vivant en Iran. Ses militants s’entraîneraient au Pakistan.
Mais cette attaque n’est pas un événement isolé. Ces derniers mois, beaucoup d’attentats ont été commis sur le sol iranien. Jundallah a notamment revendiqué deux attentats sanglants, qui ont fait 27 morts. 42 personnes sont également décédées dans un de leurs attentats perpétré en octobre 2009 à Pishin, ville proche de la frontière pakistanaise.

Selon Téhéran, ces hommes ont été formés au Pakistan. Le gouvernement iranien ajoute même que Jundallah a un lien avec Al-Qaïda et que les « soldats de Dieu » sont manipulés par les Etats-Unis et la Grande-Bretagne. Ces pays ont naturellement nié les accusations de Téhéran. Pour Washington, c’est une « insulte méprisable » et Barack Obama a ajouté que les coupables de l’attentat devraient rendre des comptes.

Encore une fois, l’Iran paie le prix de la guerre de religion ancestrale qui oppose chiites et sunnites au Moyen-Orient.
