Dancing against the law

                A few days ago, in November, a young woman posted a video of herself dancing in the Tehran subway. As she was dancing, her hijab fell upon her shoulders. By so doing, she broke the law on two counts: dancing in public is prohibited and for a woman, to be seen in public without a hijab is forbidden.
On the video, the young woman can be seen gyrating energetically on a music whose lyrics say : "Ladies all across the world / Listen up, we're looking for recruits / If you're with me, let me see your hands / Stand up and salute". She posted the video on the Stealthy Freedoms of Iranian Women Facebook page, where women claim for their freedom by posting pictures and videos flouting Iran's women dress code like not wearing the hijab, or headscarf in public places.
But earlier in the year, a group of young Iranians were arrested and got suspended prison sentences and 91 lashes, after posting on You Tube a video showing them dancing to Pharrell William's song "Happy".
The dress code is a highly political issue in Iran and the video is a perfect illustration of the wider cultural movement stirring Iranian young people.

Danser, c'est enfreindre la loi

                En ce mois de novembre, une jeune femme a posté une vidéo d'elle dansant dans le métro de Téhéran. Alors qu'elle dansait, son hijab est tombé sur ses épaules. Elle a donc enfreint deux lois car danser en public est interdit et, pour une femme, être vue publiquement sans son voile est strictement interdit.
Dans la vidéo, la jeune femme virevolte en rythme sur une musique dont les paroles sont : "Ladies all across the world / Listen up, we're looking for recruits / If you're with me, let me see your hands / Stand up and salute". Elle a posté la vidéo sur une page facebook Stealthy Freedoms of Iranian Women.sur laquelle les femmes réclament leur liberté en postant des images et des vidéos d'elles, défiant le code vestimentaire imposé aux femmes comme porter le voile ou un foulard sur la voie publique.
Mais cette année, un groupe de jeunes s’est fait arrêter et a été condamné à des peines de prison et à  91 coups de fouet avec sursis, pour avoir posté une vidéo sur You Tube, où ils dansaient sur "Happy" de Pharell William.
Le code vestimentaire est un véritable enjeu politique. Cette vidéo est donc une parfaite illustration d’un plus large mouvement culturel qui agite les jeunes Iraniens.
