On Monday 9 March, the FBI explained in a statement that
the US government increased by $4million the reward for information about ex-FBI agent Robert Levinson.
The reward is now extended to $5 million.
The wanted man left the FBI in 1998 and was possibly
on a CIA mission, according to
the Associated Press investigation, when he disappeared in 2007, about 8 years
ago, in an Iranian resort on Kish Island.
Since this moment the FBI has done every thing in its power to find him and make
him come home. His wife hasn’t had any contact with him
since 2007, when he was mysteriously kidnapped. In
2010, she received a mail from an anonymous person who wrote Levinson was alive, in
detention in Iran and would soon be released. The
origin of the mail was not found and the
information is still unconfirmed.
John Kerry, the American State's secretary, enjoined the
Iranian government to be more
cooperative and help US investigations. But the
chances to find Levinson alive get slimmer every day as the FBI
hasn’t had any news since last year,
Levinson's wife said. He should have turned 67 last
Tuesday.

This sad event reveals the complexity of the
relationship between the US and Iran, those two countries have to face the ISIS
defeating problem together, they are on the same war side, but there is still a
lot of animosity between them two and legal cooperation is hardly
implemented.

en œuvre pour le ramener aux Etats Unis, jusqu'à proposer lundi 9 mars dernier
une prime de $5millions pour toute information qui permettrait de ramener
Levinson aux Etats Unis.

encourage l'état iranien a collaboré sur cette enquête.
Selon la femme de Levinson,
le FBI serait sans nouvelles depuis plus d'un an, elle même avait reçu un e-mail
en 2010 de source inconnue lui apprenant que son mari était bien vivant mais en
détention sur le territoire iranien. Ce message avait
ravivé l'espoir de retrouver Levinson vivant, mais les informations n'avaient jamais pu être
authentifiées.

Cet événement nous montre combien les relations
américano-iraniennes sont à ce jour tendues. Les deux pays doivent faire front
commun sur de nombreux problèmes, tels la guerre contre ISIS. Cependant des
différends demeurent et les deux pays
ont du mal à mettre en place un accord d'ordre judiciaire par
exemple.
