Uranium/Nuclear fuel swap
On Saturday, Iran said it would be ready to trade its uranium with 20 % enriched uranium. The foreign minister Manouchehr Mottaki listed new conditions for this exchange and the problem is that Iran would be able to produce enriched uranium. It would leave to the country enough of it to make a bomb, even if Teheran said that it was for a medical research reactor and insists on the fact that their aim isn’t to create nuclear weapons. Another problem is the pollution which could be created by the manipulation of this uranium, when in Europe and all over the world, many discussions are held about the environment.
Different countries like France, the US and the UK advertise it to respect the UN Security Council resolutions or to cope with new sanctions as they suspect Iran to have a nuclear weapon program. They discussed about the possible sanctions a few days after Mr Mottaki’s declaration.
The western countries proposed another exchange than the one Mr Mottaki has suggested, but Iran refused, and the doubt about the utilization of this uranium has grown, and so has the risk of further sanctions.

La France, les Etats-Unis, le Royaume-Uni, qui suspectent l’Iran d’avoir un programme d’armement nucléaire, ont prévenu l’Iran que s’il ne respectait pas les résolutions du Conseil de Sécurité des Nations Unies, il subirait de nouvelles sanctions. Ces trois pays ont débattu de ces nouvelles sanctions quelques jours après la déclaration de M. Mottaki.
Les pays occidentaux ont proposé un autre échange que celui que M. Mottaki avait suggéré, mais l’Iran a refusé et le doute sur son utilisation de l’uranium s’est accru, tout comme le risque de sanctions.
